T O P I C R E V I E Wpaul prendergastThis is for all UK members, have just seen the new series on the TV, it plots from the Start of the career of the Rocket engineers up and until the moonlanding. CANT WAITPaul icarkieHiis there a date for this programme Paul.Ianpaul prendergastNO date yet just states coming soon beard98Hello,I am told that BBC2 programme 'The Space Race' will start on Sept 14th 21:00 on BBC2.RegardsStevebeard98Hello,I am told that BBC2 programme 'The Space Race' will start on Sept 14th 21:00 on BBC2.RegardsSteveTonyqThe book which accompanies the series by Deborah Cadbury, is out on Monday 5th September and the DVD of the whole series in early November - Amazon.com etc.Captain ApolloQuick reaction:Episode 1 of The Space Race was impressive, a detailed and encompassing documentary drama dealing with the beginnings of the USA/USSR space race from the close of WWII to the early development of the two competing programmes, especially the American distrust of “their Germans.” The show looks good, with impressive digital renderings of Nordhausen, Fort Bliss, V2 launches, etc. The actors resemble the historical figures well, though Von Braun’s May 1945 broken arm was inexplicably missed out? The physical replicas – big and small - were good too, though there were some obvious if minor prop errors – American GIs seemed to be armed with a strange mixture of Soviet era and WWI German weapons. Overall, the show provides an authentic looking background to the human, political and technological drama. Much to look forward to.nasamadf**k, f**k, f**k, and double f**k !I missed it, I was being made to look at toys to buy for Christmas by my girlfriend. Now I'm gonna have to ask for the series on DVD to make up for it.Adam ;-(gliderpilotukIt was remarkably good - much better than the Blakes Seven-style Space Odyssey. Certainly no holding back on von Braun's awareness of slave labour and interesting insight into the Glushko/Korolyev relationship. For US readers, this was a co-production with National Geographic so i expect it will be out on cable in due course.PaulMadon_spaceI watched the first episode and thought that is was great and i am looking forward to next wednesdays viewing at 9.00pm difinately one for the DVD collection.------------------Best WishesROBhttp://hometown.aol.com/robc2412/madonspace.html
